POW WOW Book Supplement

VaLayne Ostler posted the following to Facebook:
I just added the Pow Wow book supplement online on our blog so you don't have to find your disk to access it. Please SHARE this great resource with others on Facebook!
So I would like to share it in any way possible.  It is a very good supplement.  I like the way it has pulled out the advancements for each den and hooked them to a core value.   You can either look at the core value for the month and see what all dens can do that month. (Great for small units that have to run more than one den together.)  Or you can just look at your den to see the progression over the year. I also like the record keeping forms.  It will be well worth your time to check it out.

Roundtable Aug. 2012

Roundtable will be held in Myton, on August 9, 2012 at 7:30 PM

Here is the link to August's Roundtable handouts.  Remember that the theme for September is Cooperation.  The handouts have a few ideas for pack meeting, some cooperation type games, and a Cub Master's minute.  Enjoy!

September Pack Meeting 2012

The following link will take you to BSA Supplemental Pack Plans that include themes to go along with Cooperation.  For example September has a theme called Hometown Heroes.

BSA Supplemental Pack Plans

I have put this link in before but this will take you to supplemental den meetings that would be great for small packs that have to run more than one den together.

Bobcat Requirements

Scouter Mom is one of my favorite places to go for scouting ideas.  She has a gathering activity called a falling letter puzzle.  She took the Cub Scout Promise and wrote it as a puzzle, but then all of the letters fell off and are down below the puzzle. The Cub Scouts have to write them back up in the puzzle in the correct order.  The letters belong in the column directly above them.  As they write a letter in the puzzle area, they need to scratch it out below so they know it has been used.

The second address is a dice game that you play to help kids learn/remember their bobcat badge requirements.  These games would make good cooperation games for September.  All you would have to do is allow them to work together.

I am hoping this address works because I know the address says law of the pack but it is really the cub scout promise.  It looks like you will have to copy and paste the link into your browser.

Alternative Cub Scout Delivery System

There are two manuals that are great for small units that have to run more than one den together.  If you have to run Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and/or Webelos together, this might be a great resourse for you.  There is a manual for Year A and one for Year B.  There is even a Year A for Spanish speaking units.  You can download the manuals right to your computer.  You may want to go to the link below and check this out.   It does take a bit of time to download them.  I was able to download both manuals to my iPad. At the Orem Scout Office a guy told me this new manual will be the thing he is presenting at Akala's Counsel this year.  So here is a plug for Akala's Counsel--Sign Up!  You will learn some cool things that you can share with the rest of us.

People have such great ideas!

I was looking at one of my favorite blogs (Pony Express District) for some scout ideas when I came across a blog called I'm a Cub Master...NOW WHAT!  I know the feeling.  As a new District Roundtable Cub Master Commissioner I really want to know NOW WHAT!!  At any rate when I saw these cute little milk cartons I had to try it out.  My only advice... fold ALL the folds before you try gluing it together.  Also make sure you change the pack number before you print.  I wonder if I can get my unit's cub master to do this?

Roundtable May 10, 2012

An old chief gathered his braves together.  He gave each brave a stick.  He asked them each to break their stick.  Each brave easily broke his stick in half.  Then the old chief brought out a bundle of sticks and asked each brave in turn to break the bundle.  None could accomplish the task.
Moral:  When we stand along we are easily broken but when we stick together we can accomplish anything.
What would you like Roundtable to be?  What do you want to see happen?  We would like Roundtable to be after the true order of the Roundtable.  We would like you to feel free to express ideas, concerns, and opinions.
    Together we can accomplish anything!
